Middle Street concentrates most of Sullivan’s Island’s dining into a small area. That makes the decision less about driving across town and more about the kind of meal you want: seafood, wood-fired cooking, barbecue, burgers, tacos or something fast enough to carry toward the beach.
For weekend dinner, the more popular dining rooms can fill quickly. Restaurants that accept reservations are worth booking when you have a fixed schedule; for walk-in spots, earlier arrival usually gives you more flexibility.
For a casual beach-day meal
You do not need a special-occasion dinner to eat well here.
Poe’s Tavern, Home Team BBQ, Mex 1 and The Co-Op cover a lot of the easy-meal territory: burgers, barbecue, tacos, sandwiches and portable food. They make sense when dinner is not the day’s main event.
For dessert, Beardcat’s Sweet Shop is downstairs from The Obstinate Daughter and is known for gelato and sorbet. It is an easy final stop if you are already walking Middle Street.
